Trip Itinerary

Day 1: Departure from USA.

Day 2: Arrive in Athens ~ You will be met and transferred to your hotel for time to relax and meet your fellow pilgrims. Dinner and overnight in Athens.

Day 3:Start 4 night cruise - Pireaus/Myconos- This cute little island is the most famous of all the islands for its beaches, active nightlife and shining sun. It was built with narrow streets resembling a labyrinth to protect from pirate raids and wind. A dazzling mess – narrow streets pass between cube-shaped whitewashed houses in the area up to the old town of Kastro. The public museum, which forms part of the Venetian fortress wall, is in the city of Kastro. The lower corner of the sea is called "Little Venice". (known as Alefkandra) The balconies of the houses protrude above the sea. You can watch the panoramic view of Little Venice from the windmills and you can also see the Pelican Petros, the mascot of the island for 50 years.

Day 4: SANTORINI, the southernmost island of the Cyclades island group in the south of the Aegean Sea, is approximately 46km2. In 1500 BC, the island and its surrounding small islands were formed by a large volcanic eruption. Located on a cliff on a hill 300 m above sea level, Thira (Fira) is the capital of the island. The city was completely destroyed as a result of a great earthquake in 1956 and most of it has been rebuilt until today. The most characteristic work of the city is its blue-domed churches. Wine, fruit, olive oil and tobacco are the main agricultural products grown in the Cyclades island group. Very high quality wines are produced from grapes grown on volcanic soil. Thira is located on the cliffs with perhaps the most beautifully decorated bars, restaurants, accommodation areas and unbelievably romantic sea views in the world. The volcanic beaches stretching along the north-south strip make the island even more attractive.

Day 5: Rhodes,Shore excursion to Lindos Acropolis and St Paul Bay- Being a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the largest of the 12 islands, Rhodes is an island like paradise located 18 km from the shores of Turkey. Considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Colossus of Rhodes statue showed sailors the location of the entrance to the ancient port. The castle built by the Hospitaller Knights and the ancient city, which it embraced, is considered to have remained as the second best preserved medieval city. A Turkish minority of 3,500 people still lives on the island which was conquered by Suleiman the Magnificent and ruled under the Ottomans for 400 years.

Day 6: Ephessos / Patmos - Shortly before sunset is the best time to wander the narrow streets of Hora, which, along with the Monastery of St. John and the Cave of the Resurrection, have been designated UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Hora, built just below and around the walled monastery, also resembles a castle. Wander through the labyrinth of alleyways filled with toppling bougainvillea, marvel at the dazzling whitewashed houses and mansions, many dating from the 16th century, and note their flat roofs. These were built in this way to form an "overhead" transport and communications network so that sensitive areas of the city could be quickly reinforced. Square houses with thick stone walls were built close together, especially along the outer perimeter, to form a defensive wall against pirates. Moreover, their appearance was more or less the same; The homes of the rich and the poor were indistinguishable from each other, meaning the former could not be easily targeted. Patmos attracts and inspires many artists who create magnificent works. Check out the galleries in Hora: Kapopoulos Fine Arts (Main Square), Andreas Kalatzis Gallery and Koukoumavla; the latter offers a wide range of particularly tasteful handmade products.

Day 7: Pireus – End Cruise - Athens - Excursion to Corinth ~ we will visit the Acropolis to see the ruins of the Parthenon, Erechtheum and Propylae. For twenty five centuries, the panorama of this city is dominated by the rock of the Acropolis; we see the ruins of the Parthenon, the Erechtheum and the Propylae. Afterwards, we will ascend Mars Hill where Paul spoke to the ancient Athenians about the one and only God. From here we have an excellent view of the ancient agora; former center of the Athenian public life. We then drive through the city to see the House of Parliament on Syntagma Square, the Evzones in their picturesque uniforms guarding the Presidential Palace and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. We also see the Library, the University, the Panathenaic Stadium where the first Olympics of the modern era were held, the temple of the Olympian Zeus and Adrian's Arch. Continue our tour to Ancient Corinth where, under the shadow of the towering Acropolis, St. Paul preached and lived for two years. The vigorous and mostly Gentile Church he founded here in 50 AD caused him much grief and prompted him to write, at least, four letters to them. Visit the ruins of the ancient city where Paul worked with Aquila and Priscilla. See the remains of the first century shops, the agora where Paul's trial by Gallio took place, the Fountain of Peirene, Temple of Apollo and the Bema. Dinner and overnight in Athens.

Day 8: Delphi - Athens ~ Visit Delphi, the center of the ancient world (navel) of the earth, whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic world. On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, lie the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo Pythios. Continue to Athens which is one of the most glorious cities in the world and the cradle of western civilization as we know it today. Dinner and overnight in kalambaka.

Day 9: Visit Meteora Monasteries. Among striking scenery, perched on top of huge rocks, that seem to be suspended in mid-air, stand ageless monasteries where you can see exquisite specimens of Byzantine art. Women must wear a skirt, or have a scarf that can be wrapped like a skirt, when visiting the Monasteries. Men will need to wear long pants and have their shoulders covered. Thessaloniki city-tour ~ Paul preached in Thessaloniki during the winters of 49-50 AD and wrote two epistles to the ancient Thessalonians. See the ramparts of the city, the triumphal Arch of Galerius starting at the Via Egnatia, once a strategic artery of the Roman Empire. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.

Day 10: Philippi, Kavala, Thessaloniki ~ Visit Philippi where Paul delivered his first sermon in Europe, sowing the seeds of Christianity. "And from there (He went) to Philippi" Acts 16:12-18 Here Paul baptized a certain woman named Lydia, the first Christian convert in Europe. Among the ruins, located on the rocky ledge above the town's main road is the prison where Paul and Silas were thrown. Continue into the modern port city of Kavala, ancient Neapolis, where Paul accompanied by Silas, Luke and Timothy, first set foot in Europe. Dinner and overnight in Thessaloniki.

Day 11: Fly back home.
